Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage time.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with patients and families professionally.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers in the unit.
  • Enter information into EMR to support patient throughput.
  • Schedule consultations, tests, and transportation.
  • Assist with payroll and staff scheduling as needed.

Pay based on experience.SummaryProvides administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, serving as a liaison between patients, visitors, and clinicians. Effectively organizes priorities, completes tasks in a timely manner, and maintains the confidentiality of patient information.Partners with nursing to coordinate day-to-day patient flow, including communication with key stakeholders regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. Provides outstanding service during every customer interaction. Actual job duties may vary by department.Does this position require Patient Care?NoEssential FunctionsPerforms clerical and administrative duties to support the general operations of the floor or unit.Greets and interacts with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers in person and through various communication tools in a professional and courteous manner.Receives, prioritizes, organizes, and manages information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.Schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transportation to other departments.Enters accurate and timely information into the electronic medical record regarding admissions, discharges, and transfers to facilitate efficient patient throughput.Contacts ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services, and supplies; tracks status and location; and follows designated processes for identifying and facilitating repairs.May assist the manager with payroll functions, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries.
