Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center offering advanced behavioral health and diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents, and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs. The Unit Coordinator at Hampton Behavioral will manage the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide patient care. This is a part-time position, working 24 hours a week, with hours from 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm, four evenings a week, including rotating weekends. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting nursing and patient care through interventional and administrative duties.
  • Assisting in the direct care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues, as directed by the treatment team.
  • Supporting unit programming to facilitate therapy, leisure activities, and activities of daily living.
  • Possessing knowledge of dual diagnosis, chemical dependency, and mental health patient issues, including age-specific considerations, behavior management, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Understanding regulatory standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) and staff development procedures.
  • Communicating effectively orally, telephonically, and in writing.
  • Maintaining computer systems knowledge and CPR certification.
  • Demonstrating good documentation, organization, time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working with psychiatric patients and previous secretarial experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to manage patients physically, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform various physical activities. Must be drug and alcohol-free, with reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
