The University of Kansas Health System in Olathe, KS is seeking a Unit Coordinator/Charge Nurse for Interventional Radiology. This full-time role leads nursing teams, assigns shifts, and manages patient flow to meet throughput targets while ensuring quality care.

Requires a BSN with RN licensure and BLS; ADN nurses must enroll in BSN within 6 months of hire and complete it by the third anniversary. Master’s in Nursing preferred with 2+ years of clinical leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • RN leadership and coordination experience preferred.
  • BSN required upon hire for Southwest KC market locations; ADN nurses must enroll in BSN within 6 months and complete BSN by 3rd anniversary.
  • High School Diploma and Bachelor of Science in Nursing are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs.
  • Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs.
  • Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff.
  • Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff.
  • Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management.
  • Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance.
  • Has primary involvement and responsibility for unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • Southwest KC Market Locations: Nurses hired after November 1, 2025, BSN degree is required upon hire. For ADN prepared nurses hired before November 1, 2025, must be enrolled in a BSN degree program within 6 months of hire date, must complete BSN degree by the third anniversary of hire date.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master Degree Nursing
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing or compact license
Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Professional Nursing Certification
