Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician for day shifts. You will provide direct patient care, maintain a clean, safe environment and support age-appropriate comfort measures under a licensed nurse’s direction.

Requirements include a Florida CNA/PCT certificate or equivalent, a high school diploma or equivalent, and CPR/BLS certification. Competitive benefits apply from day one in a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Prior nursing aide or PCT experience preferred with knowledge of medical terminology. [Required]
• Must have a State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant/Nursing Assistant Certificate, Patient Care Technician Certificate or the equivalent of one year of nursing school education.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care, ensuring personal hygiene and comfort care is delivered to all patients.
• Assists daily in maintaining orderly, clean and quiet work environment.
• Observes for and provides age appropriate comfort measures to all patients within the scope of practice.
• Maintains the confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
• Consistently uses supplies, materials and equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner.
• Maintains infection prevention and hand hygiene practices at all times.
• Obtains vital signs and lab specimens as directed, reporting abnormal findings to the licensed nurse.
• Coordinates unit duties, including managing sharp containers, pharmaceutical waste containers, blood glucose monitoring machines, and isolation carts.

Job Description

• Demonstrates good use of the English language in the verbal and written form.
• Must demonstrate ability and understanding of the age specific care requirements of the following patient populations, geriatric, and adult patient – such as i.e. proper size/selection of patient equipment, communication and safety needs.
• Must demonstrate tactfulness, diplomacy, and courtesy.
• Ability to prioritize department requirements and have a good understanding of patient, family, and physician needs.
• Does require use of commonsense and basic decision making skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of responsibilities and limitations.
• Must be able to receive and follow-through on direction and instruction provided by the nurse.
• Must exhibit a pleasant, accommodating disposition using tact and diplomacy at all times.
• A respectful professional and mature disposition is expected with all relationships and contacts with all department and as well as other department personnel, patients, families, visitors and physicians is a must.
• Has working knowledge of physician credentials and outcomes. Has access to sensitive patient information and the medical record. (Verbal, written and per observation) concerning patients, which must be maintained in strict confidence.
• General secretarial skills, including typing and PC computer skills.

Education

High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

Prior nursing aide or PCT experience preferred with knowledge of medical terminology. [Required]
