Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist (Web/Application Helpdesk) for the School of Arts and Sciences – Dean’s Office. This position will coordinate helpdesk requests for application developers and web developers, either by resolving them or routing them to the appropriate personnel.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Develops an understanding of the services offered by the application development and web development teams, and of IT Service Management best practices.
  • Helps maintain current websites and assist in development of new websites for the Rutgers-New Brunswick School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Updates and creates content in web sites. Crops, resizes, and uploads images.
  • Assists departmental web editors with maintaining their websites.
  • Assists primary web development team by participating in special projects as needed.
  • Assists in the supervision of Class 5 student employees by delegating tasks to them as needed, providing direction to them on how they are to perform tasks, and how they should log their time spent in the unit’s project management system, and verifying that they are working.
  • Stays informed of advances in technology and adapting to new development tools and techniques. Operates under close supervision.
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
