Job summary

The Broadlawns Medical Center Eye Clinic is seeking a Unit Clerk for full-time daytime hours. Under supervision of the Clinic Nurse Manager or Clinic Administrator, you will coordinate clerical tasks, scheduling, and patient flow to support efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities include documenting and routing orders, serving as a receptionist, processing admissions/discharges, and assisting with computer systems training for new staff.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of Nursing Services orientation and in-service requirements.
• Familiarity with computers.
• Demonstrates effective communication across teams and with patients.

Follows the BMC Code of Conduct.* Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to all team members.* Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, Providers or designee performs documentation, communication, and scheduling of patients’ activities and tests.* Processes orders in the computer system to the appropriate ancillary services (i.e. Dietary, Respiratory Care, Radiology, Laboratory, and Social Services)* Performs clerical duties in a timely manner related to the admissions, transfers, and discharges of all patients of all ages and inputs into the computer system with pertinent information regarding patients.* Serves as a receptionist for the unit.* Answers the telephone and intercom systems with appropriate service excellence skills.* Interacts with patients and families of all ages in a courteous manner.* Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion.* Orders supplies and equipment.* Receives and places items in their proper storage areas on an ongoing basis.
