Job Description

Purpose of Job:

Under the direction of the professional staff, the Emergency Department Technician will provide direct patient care and perform selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures, considering age-specific accommodations for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The technician will ensure a calm, caring, clean, and safe environment. Additionally, the technician will provide clerical services in the Emergency Department to maintain efficient operations, demonstrating excellent communication skills, prioritization, and urgency.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain clinical competence to provide safe and efficient direct patient care respectful of age-specific considerations, incorporating computer technology into patient care delivery.
  • Coordinate and facilitate daily clerical operations of the ED by responding promptly to requests from physicians and nurses, expediting patient flow, including coordinating patient transfers.
  • Maintain a prepared, clean patient care environment stocked with needed equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to enhance the patient care experience, focusing on efficient patient flow and incorporating SERVICE values.
  • Participate in and support departmental and organizational quality initiatives aimed at improving workflow.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or completion of relevant continuing education.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, communication, and problem-solving skills.
