Job Description

Position Summary: This role combines responsibilities of a Unit Clerk and Care Partner. The employee handles clerical, communication, and reception duties on assigned nursing units. They collaborate with the patient care team to deliver care tailored to specific patient populations, maintaining competency in physical, communication, safety, nutrition, and psychosocial needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • No Experience Required
Essential Functions

Assists in patient care activities under RN/LPN supervision, including:

  • Patient lifting, turning, positioning with Safe Patient Handling equipment (>35 pounds)
  • Monitoring confused and difficult patients
  • Providing hygiene care, toileting, shaving, washing, dental care, feeding, and assisting with exercises
  • Mobilizing patients and following mobility protocols
  • Performing dressing changes, postmortem care, and specimen collection
  • Monitoring vital signs, intake & output, and recording data
  • Transporting patients and equipment, serving meals, and distributing water and nourishment
  • Participating in safety and satisfaction initiatives, responding to call bells, and patient rounding
  • Recognizing emergencies and notifying RN/LPN
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment and managing patient belongings
  • Supporting hospital policies and CPR certification
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team
  • Obtaining blood samples using phlebotomy techniques, adhering to safety and regulatory standards
Other Duties
  • Mentoring new staff and accepting non-routine assignments
  • Participating in community activities and unit council meetings
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned
