Position Overview

This role involves performing clerical, receptionist, dispatching, and admitting/discharge duties to support the patient care department.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and Licensure:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or secretarial school preferred.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the general responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed:

  1. Greeting and admitting patients upon arrival.
  2. Completing admitting information in the computer.
  3. Locating and assigning beds.
  4. Notifying physicians of admissions and transfers.
  5. Coordinating patient transfers within and outside the department.
  6. Handling discharge procedures, including documentation and scheduling follow-ups.
  7. Arranging transportation and maintaining communication among departments.
  8. Answering phones and intercom courteously and promptly.
  9. Providing information to physicians and staff as needed.
  10. Entering orders into the EPIC system accurately and timely.
  11. Managing patient records and documentation.
  12. Scheduling labs, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
  13. Maintaining stock levels and department data.
