Responsibilities
  • Transcribe all orders from patient charts onto medication sheets, complete related paperwork, and notify RNs of STAT/Now orders.
  • Maintain patient records by filing reports, retrieving old records, and ensuring completeness of charts.
  • Coordinate communication among physicians, staff, patients, and families via phone and intercom.
  • Document unit activities such as census, admissions, discharges, transfers, and surgeries under supervision.
Secondary Duties
  • Run errands for nursing staff, including medication and supply transfers.
  • Monitor and order supplies to ensure inventory levels are maintained.
  • Enter data into the computer system.
  • Participate in orientation and serve as a preceptor for new Unit Clerks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of computer experience.

Preferred:

  • One year of secretarial experience.
  • One year of experience with medical terminology.
