Job summary

Medical Center Health System is seeking a unit clerk to assist in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities within the nursing unit. The role involves clerical, receptionist and coordination tasks and maintaining the unit environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS certification within 90 days. Orientation and competency completion within 3 months are expected, covering unit operations, safety, time management and communication.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate required upon hire.
  • BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Completion of general and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire.
  • Competencies within 3 months: unit orientation, unit safety, attendance, time management, age-specific care, computer training, documentation, chart maintenance, supply ordering, communication, transfers/discharges, Code Blue, restraint training.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Unit Director or designee, he/sheassistsin planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing unit by performing clerical, receptionist, and coordination duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.

Qualifications:
A. Education and Certification:
  • 1.High School graduate or equivalent required upon hire.
  • 2. Basic Life support ( BLS) Certification required within (90) days of hire.
B. Training and Experience:
  • 1. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within three(3) months of hire.
  • Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months ofhire:
    • a. Unit orientation
    • b. Unit safety
    • c. Attendance requirements
    • d. Effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills
    • e. Age specific care
    • f. Computer Training
    • g. Accurate documentation, transcription, order entry
    • h. Maintain medical record/chart
    • i. Order departmental supplies
    • j. Communication skills: intra/inter department
    • k. Transfer and discharge patients
    • l. Participation in Code Blue
    • m.Restraint Training
