Adventist Health Simi Valley is seeking a per diem Unit Secretary to greet visitors, prepare and maintain medical records, and respond to patient requests for assistance. The role supports the nursing team with essential clerical tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Preferred education includes a high school diploma or GED; associate degree or related experience is a plus. BLS from an approved vendor is preferred as well as TEAM/CPI training. Per diem shifts include 12-hour periods.

• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• One year's relevant experience preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience preferred.

• Processes orders and assists unit visitors and callers. Assists in scheduling patient procedures and assembling patient charts.
• Performs data collection and maintains data on an ongoing basis. Assists in scheduling patient procedures. Assembles charts.
• Participates in regulatory environmental compliance duties, clearing hallways and calling for equipment/pick-up as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Job Summary

Greets and directs visitors. Prepares and maintains medical records. Responds to patient requests for assistance. Provides information to patients, families, and physicians. Provides other clerical support to nursing team as required.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• One year's relevant experience: Preferred
• Hospital or medical office experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Unit Secretary training course: Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required

Department Specific License/Certifications

• Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Required

• Performs data collection and maintains data on an ongoing basis. Assists in scheduling patient procedures. Assembles charts.
• Participates in regulatory environmental compliance duties, clearing hallways and calling for equipment/pick-up as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
