Job summary

CoxHealth South is seeking a Unit Assistant I to perform duties under supervision, gaining exposure to various healthcare departments. The program offers rotation through departments to explore career paths within healthcare.

Participants will complete assigned tasks, learn daily routines of healthcare workers, and may interview for advancement to Unit Assistant II in a chosen area after program completion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a high school or high school equivalent program.
• Preferred: Enrolled in a Health Science Program.

Responsibilities

• Be exposed to daily routines of healthcare workers.
• Assist in assigned tasks across departments as directed by staff.
• Participate in exploring different healthcare pathways during the program.
• Potentially advance to Unit Assistant II in chosen area after program completion.

Job Description

A Unit Assistant I completes duties as assigned under the direct supervision of healthcare staff, and communicates effectively with members of the care delivery team.

While in the program, a Unit Assistant I will be pre-assigned to explore different healthcare departments, gaining exposure to various career pathways.

Upon completion of the program, a Unit Assistant I will complete an interview for selection to potentially advance to a Unit Assistant II role in chosen area of interest.

The Unit Assistant I will be:

• Exposed to the daily routines of healthcare workers.
• Provided opportunities to identify career interests in healthcare.
• Provided exposure to academic, technical, and personal skills required in healthcare professions.
• Complete assigned tasks per department assigned.

Education

• Required: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a high school or high school equivalent program
• Preferred: Enrolled in a Health Science Program

Experience

• No prior experience required

Skills

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Able to communicate and work with a wide variety of staff, patients, and families
• Ability to problem solve
• Flexibility and ability to accept direction from members of the care team
