Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Unit Aide to provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients, staff, and the healthcare team under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

You will assist with patient comfort needs, transport patients, and help maintain unit efficiency through stocking, cleaning, and clear communications with nurses.

Competenze

• Previous Unit Aide experience.
• Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA) is a plus.

Mansioni

• Assist with basic patient care under RN direction, including ADL tasks and vital signs.
• Support daily unit operations, passenger transport, and supply stocking.
• Document patient records according to hospital policy.
• Communicate with the healthcare team to maintain an organized environment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.

To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.

• Performs basic patient care under the direction of the RN which includes assisting with patient ADL routine, measurement of intake and output and obtaining vital signs
• Completes appropriate documentation which includes patient records ensuring it is completed according to hospital policy
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth by taking advantage of the available opportunities
• Participates in peer review and staff development, which includes unit and quality process improvement activities
• Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict
• Communicates as appropriate with other members of the healthcare team

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma/GED
• Previous Unit Aide experience. If operationally able, Hospital will consider training a non-experienced candidate
• Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider

Preferred

• Experience in healthcare environment
• Certified Nursing Assistant: CA
