Job Description Summary
The Service Equipment Operator is responsible for operating, diagnosing and maintaining facility equipment and infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to Air Handling Units, Rooftop Units, Chillers, Compressors, Vacuum Pumps, Sanitary and Lab Waste Pumps, Cooling Towers, Pneumatic Control Systems, Electronic Control Systems, Hydronic Heating and Cooling, and Steam Systems.
Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • This position will require to work a rotating shift working off hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular communication with customers, work leaders, and other trades to complete work assignments.
  • Diagnose, maintain and repair complicated central heating, ventilating, air-conditioning systems and other services.
  • Perform rounds through facility mechanical rooms to monitor facility equipment.
  • Monitor systems through controls software, adjusting setpoints as needed.
  • Responding to radio calls and communications from buildings systems center
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and handheld power tools.
  • Perform rounds of labs to support research staff on off shift.
  • Perform all work safely and efficiently following all policies, procedures and codes.

Qualifications:

  • AAS Degree in Plant Utilities Technology, Mechanical Technology, HVAC
    • OR
  • A.O.S Degree in Construction Technology with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Utility Operations; or Military Training in Boiler Operations (eg. Navy HT)
    • OR
  • 7 or more years of experience with Industrial HVAC.
  • Must be willing to work a rotating shift working off hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
