Brookfield Properties in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Union Handyman to provide maintenance services and supervise staff at a large multi-use complex. Responsibilities include minor repairs, building maintenance, and coordination with outside vendors to complete tasks promptly.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting duties, along with HVAC awareness, preventive maintenance, and after-hours on-call support.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate preferred.
• Valid Government issued ID required.
• Must join Union of record at property if applicable.
• Must attend school as designated by 32 BJ or as required by management.

Responsabilités

• Provide supervision and oversight to maintenance staff; assume responsibility for work as assigned.
• Perform minor repairs and standard maintenance on building equipment and systems.
• Interact with tenants for maintenance needs and respond to issues.
• Oversee preventive maintenance program and schedule work orders.
• Basic plumbing tasks: inspect, install, repair, replace pipes and fixtures.
• Basic electrical tasks: inspect, maintain, repair lighting and wiring.
• Basic carpentry: walls, doors, shelving, drywall; painting and patching.
• Locksmith duties when needed and key/lock management.
• Ceiling tile/grid repair and installation; assist promotions/setup for events.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and report back as needed.
