Job summary

SEIU Local 1021 in Northern California seeks an Organizing Specialist to help implement the local's organizing plan, identify worker leaders, and drive campaigns. The role involves recruiting workers and directing outreach to unorganized staff across multiple sites in the Sacramento area.

Responsibilities include mobilizing members for actions, conducting worksite meetings, and coordinating with Organizing staff to achieve campaign goals. Travel and varied hours are required as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of union organizing experience.
• External organizing and related experience will be considered.
• Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours.

Responsibilities

• Work with Organizing staff to implement the local union's organizing plan.
• Identify and recruit worker leaders to join the union.
• Direct contact with unorganized workers and conduct organizing drives.
• Mobilize members for public actions and campaigns.
• Prepare worksite meetings and maintain campaign plans.
