Job summary

KRON 4, the Bay Area’s Local News Station, seeks a Studio Technician in San Francisco, CA. This regular, full-time, union role requires handling broadcast equipment and coordinating with news, engineering, and production teams.

Responsibilities include operating Tricaster, Ross Overdrive, teleprompters, audio, and cameras, plus testing gear daily. Availability for all day parts, including weekends/holidays, is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations preferred.
• Problem solver with quick thinking to resolve live broadcast issues.
• Proficient with broadcast and production equipment.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment.
• Willingness to learn and advance skills.
• Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Operate broadcast equipment including Tricaster, Ross Overdrive, studio managing, teleprompting, audio, robotic cameras, and transmission.
• Demonstrate proficiency in LIVE broadcast production, automation, and execution of LIVE breaking news.
• Communicate and document effectively with crew, news producers and assignment team.
• Coordinate with technical operators during newscasts and other live/recorded productions.
• Must possess working knowledge of ENPS, MOS commands, video servers, and general broadcast production equipment.
• Work as a liaison daily between news, engineering, and production departments.
• Test equipment daily to ensure proper operation.
