Job summary

Rush Truck Centers, part of Rush Enterprises Inc., is seeking a Union Diesel Mechanic apprentice to work under a Leadman or Journeyman. The program places the apprentice on Journeyman-level tasks to qualify as Journeyman Mechanic.

Responsibilities include general maintenance, assisting mechanics, inspecting safety devices, and completing projects as directed. Requires GED or high school diploma, trade school graduation, and 1+ year mechanical experience; union benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of trade school.
• 1+ year mechanical experience.
• Continuing training appropriate for apprenticeship level.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Assist the Leadman or Journeyman Mechanic(s) assigned to.
• Assist in providing technical service to vehicles and equipment.
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.
