Job summary

Arrow Building Center, Lampert Lumber and Lyman Lumber Companies, divisions of US LBM, is seeking a Delivery Helper to deliver materials to job sites and assist in loading and unloading operations. You will report shortages, assist the supervisor, and help maintain a clean, safe yard and warehouse environment.

The role emphasizes safe delivery, accurate order verification, and excellent customer service while supporting other drivers and departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills and ability to read orders and complete forms.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to handle conflicts constructively and resolve issues calmly.
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and proper material handling.
• Ability to learn and use smartphones, GPS and other business apps.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and unload materials to customer satisfaction.

• Obtain supervisor approval on load counts and conditions.

A Brief Overview

The Delivery Helper delivers materials to job site, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Success in this position could lead to other opportunities within the Driver, Warehouse and Yard functions.

Pay Rate:

$22.65/hour

What you will do

• Operate safely.
• Participate in a positive work environment.
• Check orders for accuracy.
• Organize and secure load.
• Obtain approval on all loads from supervisor for proper count and conditions of load.
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
• Deliver and unload materials to customer‘s satisfaction.
• Follow guidelines from supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
• Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
• Assist driver in evaluating delivery site, noting potential hazards, obstacles, physical challenges, etc.; guide driver in maneuvering on and off customer’s property to avoid damage as needed.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Qualifications

• Experience with delivery, material handling and/or warehouse required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to do basic math, read orders, writes instructions and complete forms.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications)
