Columbia Insurance in Missouri is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to support risk assessment, rating, and processing of new and renewal policies within a designated territory. You will work with agency partners and manage renewals while maintaining accurate records and pursuing relevant certifications.

The role requires two years of insurance experience and a bachelor's degree is preferred. Travel up to 10% may be required, and a comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

• Two years of experience in insurance, underwriting, or administrative support.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, SharePoint with ability to learn new systems and deliver accurate results.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain quality.
• Sound planning and organizational skills.
• Team player with an enthusiastic, positive personality
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

• Support the Underwriter in risk assessment and information gathering.
• Ensure accurate rating, binding, and processing of new/renewal policies within authority.
• Prepare renewals, review forthcoming renewals, and update documentation.
• Serve as primary contact for designated agencies within the territory.
• Maintain policy files and audit documentation; address discrepancies.
• Engage in continuous education and pursue certifications as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned
