Selective Insurance invites you to join the Ignite Internship program in Hamilton, NJ. This 11-week, full-time internship offers exposure to underwriting, risk management, audits, and claims, with on-the-job assignments and leadership exposure.

Hybrid work allows commuting to the Hamilton location. As an Underwriting Intern, you’ll support growth and profitability goals while developing analytical skills and business acumen across insurance disciplines.

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student to qualify (Class of 2028 preferred).
• High School Diploma required. Undergraduate juniors or seniors with ability to perform at a professional level.

Responsibilities

• Engage in underwriting lifecycle: quotes, issuance, renewals, endorsements.
• Support underwriting and related departments to gain insights into risk management and business processes.

The Ignite Internship Program is an 11-week, full-time experience that offers a sneak peek into the world of insurance. Level up your skills and knowledge by diving into your business area of choice. Throughout the program, you'll get a feel for the corporate environment with on-the-job assignments, team projects, exposure to senior leadership & executives, and even a community volunteer day. All of this and more will help you build meaningful relationships throughout the organization.

As an Underwriting Intern, you'll have a chance to build your business acumen by supporting the underwriting department's growth and profitability goals, making meaningful contributions to the business. Underwriting involves assessing risks and determining the terms of insurance policies, making it a critical function in the financial industry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop analytical skills and gain insights into risk management, and to learn & experience different areas of the insurance industry including but not limited to underwriting, risk management, internal audit, & claims. Please note, this is a hybrid position, therefore, applicants must be within commuting distance of our Hamilton, NJ location.

Responsibilities

• Engage in underwriting functions pertaining to the lifecycle of a policy; including new business quoting, issuing, renewal processing and endorsements.
• Successfully utilize various resource materials and programs to complete projects.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

• Must be a current college student to qualify (Class of 2028 preferred).
• Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred but not required.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma required. Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.

Pay Range

USD $22.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
