Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – E&S Property in a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL. The position emphasizes marketplace visibility with agents and brokers, and three days in the office per week.

You will evaluate risk, price appropriately, and use data and models to guide decisions while maintaining underwriting guidelines and regulatory compliance. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market-facing area.
• Or 6+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ year in underwriting or market-facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 4+ years in claims or underwriting support area.

Responsibilities

• Serving as a customer industry advocate with focus on improving customer experience by understanding risk and offering end-to-end solution.
• Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing.
• Using risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale.
• Market facing and production within the E&S Standard Property group.
• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and rating manual rules.
• Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

Zurich is currently looking to hire an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter - E&S Property to join our team! We are open to candidates working out of one of the following locations: Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA. While this position will be based out of one of these locations, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week.

Responsibilities include:

• Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.

Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  AND
• Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal busines
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Executive UnderwriterRequired Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience in E&S Property Underwriting
• Strong negotiation skills and wholesale broker relationships nationwide
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office skills

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $100,000.00 - $165,000.00, with Global Specialties Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set at 30%.
