Midwest Employers Casualty (MEC) is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to manage an established national team supporting complex individual self-insured workers' compensation programs.
This is not a traditional underwriting management role. Our customers are large employers that retain substantial workers' compensation risk and purchase excess coverage to protect against catastrophic losses. Success requires a blend of technical underwriting expertise, business judgment, relationship management, team leadership, and strategic account management.
The Underwriting Manager will lead a team of underwriters and underwriting support professionals while directly managing a limited portfolio of accounts. The role is responsible for driving profitable growth, developing underwriting talent, strengthening broker and customer relationships, and ensuring disciplined underwriting execution across the team.
We do not accept unsolicited resumes from third party recruiting agencies or firms.
The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees.
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
