Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking a Life Insurance Underwriter for the Consumer Markets Division. This fully remote role evaluates risk, reviews upfront underwriting data, and finalizes cases to support growth in life insurance products.

Strong decision-making and meticulous evaluation of medical history are essential. Ideal candidates have 7–10+ years of underwriting experience, ability to act with authority on high-value cases, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of Life Insurance underwriting experience with proven proficiency in underwriting processes and philosophies.
  • Ability to handle advanced decision level authorities without a co-signature (1 Million or higher).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
  • Critical thinking skills and attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Ability to interpret meaning of information for others; translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used.
  • Ability to develop specific goals, plan, and prioritize work.

We’re actively seeking a talented Life Insurance Underwriter to join our Consumer Markets Division. This role supports 100% remote work.

As an Underwriter, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by evaluating insurance applicants; you’ll correlate all aspects of risk to determine whether to accept, modify or decline applications. You’ll focus on mortality by evaluating risk of death which includes history, degree of medical maintenance, treatment, and flags of potential future risk. Our underwriters are a crucial part to the placement of Life Insurance coverage and can directly impact our position in the marketplace and relationship with distribution partners.

  • BGA and Trial Experience Preferred

  • Completion of LOMA 280/281 and 290/291; actively working toward AALU, FLMI, and FALU

The base pay range below reflects the Senior Underwriting Consultant level, and represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at that level at the time of posting.

$103,140-$126,060

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
