Pacific Life is seeking a Life Insurance Underwriter to join our Consumer Markets Division. This fully remote role focuses on evaluating insurance applicants and determining whether to accept, modify, or decline applications based on a comprehensive assessment of risk.

Responsibilities

• Review up‑front underwriting data and tools.
• Handle additional underwriting requirements—determine value, order, and review items to perform risk selection.
• Finalize cases by entering medical history into system workbenches and making decisions.
• Demonstrate dependability, organization, and sound judgment by adhering to schedules and meeting productivity, quality, and performance standards.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of life insurance underwriting experience with proven proficiency in underwriting processes and philosophies.
• Ability to handle advanced decision authorities without a co‑signature (1million or higher).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally.
• Critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly identify information, categorize, estimate, recognize differences, and detect changes in circumstances or events.
• Ability to interpret information for others and explain how it can be used.
• Ability to develop specific goals, plan, and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Basic Life Assurance (BGA) and trial experience.
• Completion of LOMA 280/281 and 290/291; actively working toward AALU, FLMI, and FALU Underwriting Consultant.

Compensation

Base pay range: $103,140–$126,060, with potential incentive pay and additional compensation based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
