The Underwriting Audit Consulting Director is responsible for conducting underwriting audits for National Accounts Casualty, identifying operational and training improvement opportunities. This role involves analyzing written business concerning risk appetite, pricing, coverage, underwriting authority, and compliance, with the goal of continuous improvement in underwriting and auditing processes. The director will collaborate with Underwriting Shared Services and leadership to execute audit projects and mentor less experienced auditors. A deep technical knowledge of underwriting across casualty lines and a proven track record are essential.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform underwriting audits for assigned business units, analyzing risk selection, pricing, coverage, and compliance for new and renewal business.
  • Identify operational or training improvements for underwriting and audit processes.
  • Collaborate with teams to execute audit projects, ensuring compliance and governance.
  • Drive quality assurance throughout the underwriting audit lifecycle.
  • Develop responses and action plans for audit findings in partnership with Business Unit Liaisons.
  • Review and improve underwriting guides and processes with Compliance and Global Product Teams.
  • Work with colleagues on workflow improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Mentor and train less experienced auditors, sharing technical underwriting and audit expertise.

Reporting Line: Typically reports to an Audit Director or higher.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Deep technical knowledge of underwriting theories and practices in insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail and results-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Athenium/Team Think preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; professional designations preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of underwriting experience with proven results.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) preferred.
