Job summary

Starr Insurance in New York is seeking a general property underwriting support role to assist with submissions, renewals, and premium/loss exhibits. You will work closely with underwriters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance with 1–2 years of related experience and strong MS Excel/Word skills. This is an on-site position in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance or equivalent work experience.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred; insurance internships considered.
• Ideal candidates will have administrative/clerical experience in an underwriting environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Strong computer skills with advanced MS Excel and Word proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Entering new submissions and updating the Submission register.
• Assisting underwriters in renewal preparation including premium & loss exhibits.
• Assisting Underwriters in obtaining D&B reports and catastrophe analysis; preparing letters.
• Preparing insurance binders and reinsurance layoff sheets to book and bill accounts.
• Setting up new and renewal account files upon binding.
• Preparing policies and endorsements for underwriter review.
• Following up on information needed from brokers.
• Maintaining reports required by Underwriters.
• Premium entry and reconciliation.

Position Overview

This position will provide support to the underwriting activities for the General Property portfolio.

Essential Job Functions

• Entering new submissions and updating the Submission register

• Assisting Underwriters in attaining D&B reports, preparing catastrophe analysis and preparing quotation letters
• Preparing insurance binders and reinsurance layoff sheets in order to book and bill new and renewal accounts.

• Preparing policies and endorsements for underwriter review
• Following up on information needed from brokers.
• Maintain reports as required by Underwriters.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$75,000
