We are looking for motivated, analytical and diligent individuals to join Greystone’s Underwriting Analyst Program. The program is designed for finance graduates with excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills who aspire to build a career in commercial real estate.

As an Underwriting Analyst, you will become an integral member of Greystone’s leading FHA Multifamily and Healthcare lending platform. You will be paired with a Senior FHA Underwriter and will receive formal training in Multifamily and Healthcare real estate finance, gain exposure to our businesses, work on live transactions, and develop relationships with key stakeholders. This 2-year Program will provide you with a deep understanding of FHA’s commercial loan programs and will put you on the path to becoming a certified MAP or LEAN FHA Underwriter. We are looking for the best of the best. Hard-working, smart, self-motivated, and with a positive attitude.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a firm understanding of FHA multifamily and/or healthcare underwriting and real estate principles.
  • Input and analyze rent roll and operating financials into Excel-based financial analysis spreadsheets and models.
  • Coordinate with underwriters, production team, and borrowers for the collection of loan due diligence materials.
  • Communicate with the production team and borrowers to facilitate the collection of required application exhibits.
  • Review and analyze basic third-party report data (appraisals, physical condition assessment reports, environmental reports).
  • Inspect properties and prepare inspection reports (training provided by Greystone).
  • Business travel that can include driving and/or flying, with possible overnight stays, as may be appropriate.
  • Assist the Underwriter and team in the coordination of communication between inter-company departments, including the closing and underwriting departments.
  • Complete and/or assist the Underwriters in the completion of applicable forms for submission.
  • Other duties and projects, as may be assigned and deemed appropriate by the manager.


Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Recent college graduate with a degree in finance or related field.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • A strong interest in real estate, lending and financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel financial modelling skills.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite and internet search engines.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with peers, senior team members, and clients; strong “customer service” communication skills for engaging individuals both internally and externally.
  • Work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving.
  • Ability to conduct research and verify data and facts quickly.
  • Able to compile information for the purpose of successfully recommending product and/or services marketing opportunities.
  • Present a professional, courteous image when interacting with team members, co-workers, management, and outside contacts.
  • Creative thinker who enjoys the challenge of being a member of a fast-paced and dynamic team.
