Job summary

CFC is seeking an Underwriter for the US Professions portfolio in California. This broker-facing role focuses on relationship development and new business production, underwriting SME and mid-market professional liability risks with brokers nationwide to identify opportunities and structure client solutions.

You will manage broker relationships, travel to market, and help shape our US Professions proposition, contributing to growth and onshore presence with our UK and US teams.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting Professional Liability, E&O, Professional Indemnity, or Management Liability or similar.
• Commercially minded, relationship-driven, with ability to grow broker networks.

Description

We've spent more than 20 years building one of the largest SME professional liability portfolios in the US from London. Today we're seeing over 50,000 new business submissions each year and underwriting a portfolio approaching $120m GWP.

As we continue to invest in our US growth strategy, we're looking for an Underwriter to join our expanding US Professions team. This is an opportunity to help build our onshore presence, develop key broker relationships and write profitable business across a broad range of professional liability risks.

You'll be joining an established and highly successful business with the backing, expertise and infrastructure already in place, while still having the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the future direction and growth of the portfolio

About the role

This is a broker-facing underwriting role with a strong focus on relationship development and new business production.

You'll underwrite SME and mid-market professional liability risks, working closely with retail and wholesale brokers across the US to identify opportunities, assess exposures and structure solutions for clients. You'll be responsible for managing broker relationships, travelling regularly to market and becoming a trusted partner to both existing and prospective trading partners.

Alongside underwriting, you'll play an important role in the continued development of our US Professions proposition, helping us grow our admitted capabilities while expanding our reach across key markets.

Working closely with colleagues in both the US and UK, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a market-leading portfolio while building something genuinely exciting on the ground in the US.

About you

You'll have experience underwriting Professional Liability, Errors & Omissions (E&O), Professional Indemnity, Management Liability or a similar specialty line.

You're commercially minded, relationship-driven and enjoy being out in the market. You understand how to build broker relationships, spot opportunities and make sound underwriting decisions, but you're equally motivated by helping grow a business.
