Job summary

Allied World is seeking an Underwriter to join the San Francisco team in the Public Directors & Officers division. The role involves analyzing client companies, meeting with C-suite executives, and tailoring coverage for large D&O programs, including IPOs, SPACs, and M&A.

You will renew and grow the book, maintain broker relationships, and collaborate with regional leads on budgeting and business development, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and internal processes.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree required.
• 3–7 years underwriting experience.
• Solid writing and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of financial analysis and accounting.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct financial and business analysis of client companies and meet with C-suite executives to discuss operating and future performance.
• Negotiate coverage and layer participation for large D&O insurance programs on public companies including IPOs, SPACs, and M&A transactions.
• Assist in managing a renewal book of business while driving new business production growth.
• Maintain relationships with broker partners and expand production sources regionally.
• Work with regional leads on budgeting and business development.
• Engage with Claims, Actuarial, Legal, and Marketing departments as needed.
• Participate in internal projects to improve business processes regionally and countrywide.
• Maintain compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.

Allied World is looking for an Underwriter to join the San Francisco team in the Public Directors & Officers division. The dynamic state of the D&O Insurance market requires drive, a high acumen for success, and flexibility to changing conditions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct financial and business analysis of client-companies and meet with C-suite executives to discuss operating and future performance
• Negotiate coverage and layer participation for large Directors and Officers Liability insurance programs on publicly-traded companies including IPOs, SPACs, and M&A transactions
• Assist in managing a renewal book of business while driving new business production growth
• Maintain relationships with broker partners while working to expand production sources regionally
• Work with Northwestern Region leads on regional budgeting and business development
• Engage with the Claims, and Actuarial, Legal, and Marketing departments on an as-needed basis
• Participate in internal projects to improve business processes regionally and countrywide
• Maintain compliance with all internal, administrative, and underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures

Job Requirements:

• 4-year college degree required
• 3-7 years underwriting experience
• Solid Writing and Communication Skills
• Basic understanding of financial analysis and accounting
• Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
• Willingness to travel
• Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged

The salary range for this role is between:

Salary range: $70,000 - 100,000

Compensation: The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
