We embrace unique perspectives and empower each person to grow through professional development, career training and mentoring programs.Our people are our most important asset, and we are very proud of the quality of our team members.Job Summary:The Underwriter is responsible for supporting a book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals, management and growth of their portfolio of business, adhering to proper underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and assisting in the servicing of existing and potential clients.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Execute the business plan for the development, management, and expansion of a portfolio of accountsPrioritize and evaluate submissions in order to identify those accounts that provide the greatest opportunity for profit consistent with the business plan and corporate profit objectivesPerform underwriting analysis in accordance with Allied World guidelinesDevelop and recommend account pricing / structure / terms & conditions and review these in conjunction with underwriting staffExercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline, comply with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures, and perform and document referralsMaintain underwriting files in a concise manner that is consistent with company best practicesDelegate and supervise tasks with Account CoordinatorsSpecialized focus on marketing to brokers within an assigned territoryAttend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicableAttend important industry conferences and seminars as appropriateLiaise with brokers, internal auditors and Claims, Accounting, IT and Legal departments as appropriateReporting to underwriting manager regarding submissions and current portfolio contentQualifications:4-year college degree0-3+ years' experience in underwritingExcellent negotiation and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detail and quantitative skillsAbility to work independently in a fast paced, high-pressure environmentAbility to work to deadlines and prioritize tasksAbility and willingness to work outside normal office hours as requiredCPCU designation, or other applicable insurance designations desiredWillingness to travel for client meetings and broker visits throughout the assigned regionThe salary range for this role is between:The salary range for this role is between:$70,000 – $100,000The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.
