About the role:
As an Underwriter on the Non-fleet team at Nirvana, you will evaluate new and renewal commercial auto policies in the non-fleet space as we expand our portfolio. You will partner closely with our Business Development team, agents, and brokers, using your collaboration skills and critical thinking to develop strong relationships and make sound underwriting decisions. You will leverage your insurance expertise, identify creative solutions, and help build our underwriting processes in a startup environment.

What you’ll do:

• Evaluate and price new and renewal commercial transportation business (1-9 units) using underwriting best practices and modern tools.
• Manage multiple accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with agency partners to achieve production and profitability goals.
• Contribute to the team's results and growth.
• Work with Product and Engineering teams on emerging segments and territories as we scale.

About you:

• 3+ years of property/casualty underwriting experience in the transportation sector.
• Proven ability to grow and maintain a profitable transportation book of business.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to groups of varying sizes.
• Open to occasional travel for relationship building.
• Critical thinker who is decisive and proactive.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn and succeed.
