Job summary

AIG is seeking an Underwriter II, Energy to help drive profitable growth in the Power and Utility segment. This role focuses on underwriting new and renewal business, assessing risk through broker relations, and leveraging SME input and claims history analysis.

You will expand your broker network, attend events, and provide timely, quality service to brokers to meet the plan. You will also provide accurate monthly management information, including submissions, bind rate, and premium metrics,

This Underwriter role will be an ideal next step in your career if you already have some relevant experience in insurance – or this could be your entry into underwriting if you have transferable skills.

Make your mark in Underwriting AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. How you will create an impact

This role will focus on underwriting new and renewal business to help drive the profitable growth of our Power and Utility segment. You will be responsible for assessing the desirability of risk through regular contact with brokers, close co-ordination with AIG subject matter experts and robust reviews of claims history and general company information. Your relationships with brokers will be key to your success. You will need to provide excellent service to brokers through a consistent, timely, and proactive approach to underwriting. You will also aim to generate new business by expanding your broker network, attending broker events, and building new relationships across the market – in line with a sales plan established with your manager.

Another key aspect of the role is the provision of accurate monthly management information including submissions, bind rate, average premium, and total premium.

What you’ll need to succeed

• 3+ yrs in underwriting experience is preferred
• The ability to analyze financial statements.
• Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Customer and Sales orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.

For positions based in Illinois, the base salary range is $84,000-$111,000.

For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $110,000-$123,000.

In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience and qualifications.
