Join us at AXA XL’s Global Risk management group for an exciting and newly created opportunity in our U.S. Risk Management. As an Underwriter, you will be a key member of our group captive team. This role is for someone with experience in all aspects of group captives. You will be an individual contributor in a new a growing area of Primary Casualty. Your key responsibilities will involve underwriting business in line with the business plan; assisting the planning and forecasting process; monitoring aggregate exposure within agreed limits; ensuring all risks written are within the agreed maximum; maintaining awareness of all claims advised; supporting and providing input on settlement of claims advised; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks.

In Global Risk Management in North America, one of our goals is to establish and provide the best-in-class Commercial Casualty in the marketplace. While we have already begun to make headway in this strategic space, Global Risk Management plans to elevate our profile and to achieve this by writing qualified programs through a collaborative team of competent individuals with great underwriting expertise. Our focus is on the customer, profitability, and long-term viability.

Our USRM unit is significantly growing our portfolio of business. We are seeking an underwriting professional to help our team refine and execute our Large Account business strategy to achieve all established production, loss ratio, rate, account retention and ROE goals.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book, and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals.Develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and targets within your portfolio of accounts, including knowledge of the current penetration by product, cross-marketing penetration, and specific plans to increase company share.
  • Develop, underwrite, manage and service a portfolio for the U.S Risk Management business.
  • Responsible for building the AXA XL reputation in North America within the Large Commercial Casualty
  • Exercise discretion and self-supported judgement in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers, producers and clients.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure within outlined limits; monitor premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
  • Effectively cross-market with other AXA XL lines. Cultivate key broker and client relationships within the market and maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.

You will report to the Head of East, Primary Casualty.

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 91,000 – 123,200. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
