QBE North America is seeking a Crop Underwriting Intern in Kansas. This hybrid role requires 4 days in the Topeka office, with a pay rate of $19.50–$21.50 per hour.

You will gain hands-on experience alongside our crop insurance underwriting teams, learning MPCI and Crop Hail Insurance foundations. You must be enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Agriculture, returning to school after internship, and ready to start June 1, 2026 through August 6, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School Diploma/GED.
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's program in the Agricultural industry.
  • Must be returning to college/university after internship.
  • Ability to work from June 1, 2026, to August 6, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement coaching plans for performance and development.
  • Learn Crop Insurance Life Cycle and related processes.
  • Process production, acreage, hail and MPCI applications with supporting docs.
  • Assist Underwriters with daily tasks and reporting.
  • Work with EASYwriter Pro Systems and ensure accuracy of paperwork.
  • Audit insured and agent-submitted paperwork for completeness.
  • Collaborate with UW team on projects and cross-department work.
  • Engage with other crop insurance departments and provide strong customer service.

The Opportunity: As a Crop Underwriting Intern, you'll receive hands-on training and real-world experience in a supportive and positive environment. You'll work closely with one of our crop insurance underwriting teams, gaining exposure to:

MPCI (Multiple Peril Crop Insurance) - covering a wide range of risks like drought, flood, and disease.

Crop Hail Insurance - protecting farmers against damage caused by hailstorms.

This internship is designed to help you build foundational knowledge in crop insurance while contributing to meaningful work that supports farmers and the company’s success.

Location: Kansas

Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the Topeka office 4 days per week.

The Pay Rate for this role is between $19.50 and $21.50 an hour

Your New Role:
  • Develop and implement performance and developmental coaching plans

  • Assist Underwriters with daily processes
  • Processing in the EASYwriter Pro Systems

  • Networking with other crop insurance departments
  • Provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of High School Diploma/GED

  • Must be returning to college/university upon completion of internship
  • Course work or relevant experience with demonstrated achievements
  • Ability to work from June 1st, 2026, to August 6th, 2027
