Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Pathpoint, Inc. is seeking an Underwriter to own the territory and underwrite commercial E&S property and casualty accounts, driving profitable growth in a remote-first environment.
You will review submissions, develop quotes, secure binds, collaborate with carriers, brokers, and internal teams, and help shape underwriting strategy while meeting regional targets.
Pathpoint is the full-service E&S wholesaler that combines smart technology and expert E&S guidance to give brokers and agents unprecedented visibility and control. Traditional wholesalers offer market access without technology. Insurtech platforms offer technology without expert guidance. We do both: an in-house team of specialized E&S experts engaged at every step, paired with technology that automates the end-to-end process. Since we started trading in 2021, broad market access has helped thousands of brokers grow into bigger accounts and broader books, and we are just getting started (learn more).
Minimum 3 years + of E&S commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, preferably with small and mid-sized commercial accounts and 5+ year of insurance experience.
Strong technical underwriting skills and a deep understanding of carrier appetite, guidelines, and rating concepts.
Proven success building relationships with carrier underwriters, brokers, and internal sales or account management functions.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical abilities, with a clear focus on profitable growth.
Confident and self-directed, thriving in a fast-paced, remote environment; high digital literacy and quick to adapt to new systems.
Results-oriented and accountable for production goals and service standards, with the humility, collaboration, and initiative a rapidly evolving organization requires.

Prepare & deliver quotes: Develop accurate, competitive quotes by analyzing risk characteristics, applying underwriting guidelines, and clearly communicating coverage options, pricing, and recommendations to agents.
Secure binds & complete placement: Proactively manage open opportunities, obtain bind commitments, coordinate required documentation, and ensure successful placement with meticulous documentation and compliance with Pathpoint and carrier underwriting standards.
Work accounts: Prioritize and advance submissions efficiently, maintain pipeline visibility, and meet service level expectations while balancing responsiveness, marketing to carriers, risk selection, presenting options, iterating with clients, and landing accounts.
Partner with carriers: Work with carrier underwriters to shape underwriting strategy, coverage forms, and pricing parameters.
Improve the portfolio & platform: Review portfolio performance with Analytics to optimize profitability and efficiency, and contribute front-line insights to Product and Engineering to refine Pathpoint's proprietary underwriting system.
