The City of New York is seeking an Undersheriff for the Brooklyn Law Enforcement Bureau to lead the Sheriff’s Division, supervise Deputy City Sheriffs, and ensure enforcement of court orders and related civil processes. The role requires strong leadership, legal knowledge, and coordination with court and law enforcement partners.

Reporting to the First Deputy Commissioner, you will manage unit operations, assign staff, review documents, supervise seizures and evictions, and oversee criminal

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree with two years of supervisory experience in law, enforcement, or related field.
• Peace Officer status eligibility and valid NY driver license required.
• Ability to coordinate with court systems and law enforcement agencies.

Responsabilités

• Oversee the operation of a unit, tour, or county command within the Sheriff’s Division.
• Supervise Deputy City Sheriffs in execution of court mandates and seizures.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, litigants, and courts in process execution.
• Set work priorities and evaluate subordinates’ performance.
• Oversee arrests and handling of civil orders and warrants.
• Advise staff on applicable laws and procedures including Civil Practice Law and Rules.
• Direct and approve seizure, transfer, or sale of property and money.
• Prepare court ordered reports and ensure absconders are delivered to court.
