Job summary

Applied Physical Sciences Corp (APS) seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to lead systems engineering for U.S. Navy undersea programs from concept through Navy qualification and deployment.

You will translate customer and engineering requirements into well-defined subsystem and component requirements while supporting verification, validation, and integration. Qualifications

  • B.S. in Systems Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience on complex engineered products.
  • Experience from concept to testing of new products or clean-sheet designs.
  • Experience managing system and subsystem requirements.
  • Experience with risk tracking and mitigation activities and status updates.
  • Familiarity with requirements decomposition, verification, and validation.
  • Experience across product lifecycle design reviews.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Navy requirements, specifications, and interfaces.
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and manage system-, subsystem-, and component-level requirements.
  • Create traceability from customer requirements through verification and validation.
  • Lead requirements decomposition and allocation across teams.
  • Support system architecture development and trade studies.
  • Develop ICDs, system specs, verification plans, and data packages.
  • Coordinate integration across mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and test teams.
  • Develop qualification and verification strategies aligned with Navy programs.
  • Track design maturity through SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and qualification tests.
  • Support hardware integration, testing, and qualification efforts.
  • Participate in technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
  • Assist with technical risk identification and mitigation throughout the lifecycle.
  • Willing to travel occasionally for meetings, events, and testing.
  • Support transition from development into production.
