Job summary
SeaLandAire Technologies in Jackson, Michigan is seeking an experienced Undersea Acoustic R&D Engineer to join our team of engineers and scientists focused on underwater acoustic transducers and hydrophones for data-collection systems. The role combines mechanical, electrical, and acoustic engineering with testing, data processing, and collaboration with customers and project teams.
A PhD is preferred; a Master's or Bachelor's with strong relevant experience will be considered.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of underwater acoustics
- Experience with signal analysis
- Knowledge of line arrays and beamforming
- Understanding piezoelectric ceramic materials
- Experience building prototype solutions
- Knowledge of hydrophone pre-amp design
- Understanding DOA concepts
- Experience with multiphysics simulation (COMSOL)
- Experience using Python for data analysis
Responsibilities
- Define requirements with SLA project teams and customers
- Collaborate to design acoustic transducers to meet performance requirements
- Help write proposals, estimate labor requirements, and provide cost estimates
- Design and execute tests to characterize transducers
- Analyze test data to summarize system performance
- Provide inputs to written test & status reports
- Interface with engineers and CAD groups effectively
