Job summary

McCall-Thomas Engineering Company is seeking a Groundhand contractor to support projects across the Southeast, with active work in SC, GA and NC. This role requires travel and hands-on construction labor under supervision within an underground line crew.

The position is 1099 contractual with no benefits; conversion to full-time with benefits is not guaranteed. Must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be able to follow instructions and have good communication skills.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, and reach.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be willing to travel – project locations will change.
• Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of weather conditions.
• Must be committed to working safely.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, layout and prep tools/supplies/equipment/materials at each job site.
• Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project.
• Handle physically demanding construction duties as needed.
• Work as part of an underground line crew.
