Job summary

Alliance Construction, a locally owned general contractor serving Sioux Falls, seeks an experienced Underground Utility Construction Supervisor. You will oversee all phases from planning to completion, ensuring safety, schedule, and quality on each project.

You will lead field crews, coordinate with project managers and engineers, maintain documentation, read plans, and resolve issues to keep projects on track. Regular Monday–Friday work with potential travel; CDL is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a bonus but not required.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• 5+ years of experience in utility construction, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work safely in varying weather conditions.
• Extensive knowledge of underground utility systems (water, sanitary sewer, natural gas).
• Strong leadership and effective communication skills; able to coordinate crews and promote teamwork.
• Available Monday–Friday, with very minimal weekend work.
• Able to work on projects in town and potentially out of town within driveable distance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all phases of underground utility construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring safety, efficiency, schedules, and adherence to plans and specs.
• Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns; coordinate with field crews for direction and teamwork.
• Coordinate project activities with Project Managers, Contractors, Engineers and Field staff; maintain accurate daily progress reports and safety inspections.
• Identify and address challenges to minimize delays and maintain project efficiency through timely solutions.
• Read and understand engineer plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
• Supervise, lead and coordinate daily activities of field crews to ensure safe, efficient work and compliance with requirements.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations, focusing on hazards related to underground utilities.
