Job summary

Sunstall Inc. is seeking a reliable General Pipe Layer to join our civil construction team in Columbia, SC.

This role installs underground utilities including storm sewers, sanitary sewer, and water mains, ensuring accurate line and grade on a variety of site development projects. You will read construction plans, set up lasers and grade rods, and assist with trenching and shoring while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience as a pipe layer or underground utility laborer.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, profiles, and grade stakes.
• Familiarity with trench safety practices and underground utility best practices.

Responsibilities

• Install underground utilities including storm sewer and water mains.
• Set up and use lasers, grade rods, and layout tools to achieve proper line and grade.
• Read and interpret plans, profiles, and grade sheets.
• Cut, fit, and join pipe using hand tools, power tools, and appropriate methods.
• Assist with trenching, shoring, and excavation safety.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and store tools properly.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site requirements.
