Job summary

UTOPIA Fiber seeks a diligent locate technician responsible for accurately locating underground utilities using specialized equipment. You will read maps and blueprints to determine routes and document each locate in our tickets system.

Strong communication and the ability to work independently are essential. Ideal candidates have experience with multiple locating brands, knowledge of clearance codes, and physical stamina for field work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to use company-provided locate equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Ability to read maps and blueprints to determine best routes.
• Experience with various brands of locating equipment and models.
• Determine efficient routes to each locate in rural and urban areas.
• Must operate a computer to document and close tickets.
• Ability to work alone and independently.
• Working knowledge of underground construction and fiber builds.
• Knowledge of City, County and State clearance codes.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground facilities using provided equipment and technology.
• Document each locate and close related tickets electronically.
• Communicate findings clearly to team and stakeholders.
