Intuit, Inc. seeks an Underground OSP Field Inspector to audit underground fiber builds and support nationwide projects. You will travel across the United States, inspect sites, and work largely unsupervised while maintaining proactive communication with management.
We provide all tools and field training; a company vehicle is provided and travel expenses are covered, with a daily per diem for overnight travel. This role suits self-motivated individuals ready for field work.
Location: US Travel Required
Job Type: Full-Time, W-2 Employee
Compensation: $15.00 - $25.00 / hour (Depending on experience)
Benefits: Company Vehicle, Tablet/Tools Provided, Paid Travel Expenses
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Underground OSP Field Inspector to serve as our primary eyes and ears on the ground. You do not need prior fiber optic training or splicing certifications.
We will provide all specialized tools and field training.
We are looking for a candidate who is willing and eager to travel nationwide to support future infrastructure projects across the United States.
Because you will often be working independently on site, you must be a self-motivated individual who can work entirely unsupervised to complete the job, while maintaining strong, proactive communication with management.
Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $25.00 / hour (Depending on experience).
Company Vehicle & Tools: Provided from day one for local and travel assignments.
Probationary Milestone: Upon successful completion of your probation and training period, you will be issued a company Purchase Card (P-Card) to cover all project fuel and other approved purchases.
Travel Per Diem: When traveling requires overnight stay, the P-Card will cover a standard daily per diem of $175.00/day to manage lodging and meals. Additional daily allowances may be provided and considered when traveling to high-cost Tier 1 cities.
Audit Underground Builds: Physically locate and inspect underground fiber infrastructure, including conduits, hand-holes, tracer wires, and directional boring paths.
Autonomous Field Execution: Independently manage your daily field schedule, walk active job sites, and ensure all assigned project segments are completed thoroughly without direct supervision.
As-Built Verification: Read and interpret construction prints and utility maps to ensure real-world field placement matches engineering designs.
Digital Data Collection: Use a company-provided tablet to take precise measurements, log locations, and capture clear photographic evidence of site conditions.
Clear & Proactive Reporting: Document and communicate the "good and bad" of a site by writing punch-lists, flagging construction deviations, and sending clear, objective daily updates to remote project managers.
Secondary Aerial Review: Maintain a basic situational awareness of aerial structures (utility poles, guys, and anchors) on overlapping segments, though underground builds are the primary focus.
Autonomous Work Ethic: Proven ability to stay focused, work unsupervised, and efficiently problem-solve field challenges on your own.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical field errors in writing and communicate professionally with remote teams.
Software Familiarity (A Plus): Experience or comfort using Google Earth, CompanyCam, and Google Docs/Sheets for field documentation and reporting is highly preferred.
Blueprint Literacy: Proven ability to read utility maps, civil construction prints, as-builts, or engineering schematics.
Field Awareness: Experience in Utility Locating (e.g., USIC), Land Surveying, Civil Construction QC, or military field logistics is a major asset.
Travel Flexibility: Must be willing and able to travel across the US for future project assignments after the initial Albuquerque project wraps up.
Physical Stamina: Ability to walk several miles a day across uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
Safe Driving Record: Must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record to safely operate a company-issued field vehicle.
Smoke/Vape/drug and alcohol-free environment: All company vehicles are smoke-free, vape-free and drug-free. Employees must follow this policy whenever driving or riding in a company vehicle.
