Underground Mining Electrician — PLC, HV & Night Shifts

Job summary

Redpath Mining is seeking an experienced Underground Electrician to disassemble, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and equipment in surface and underground operations.

The role requires reading electrical drawings, interpreting schematics, and complying with NFPA70E and Redpath safety standards while performing maintenance and repairs, including high and low voltage systems, PLCs and related control equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' electrician experience in an underground mining environment.
• Must read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• NFPA70E certification required (site location).

Responsibilities

• Capable of troubleshooting, diagnostics testing and interpretation, maintenance and repair of ventilation fans, underground dewater pumps, lighting, electric/hydraulic mobile equipment, PLC and communication equipment, electronics, high voltage and low voltage power and control systems and ground fault monitor systems.
• Assist and carry out repairs and maintenance to all underground sub-stations.
• Must be capable of hanging 4/0 cable overhead.
• Fabricate electrical panels and other necessary installation of electrical cables.
• Install electrical apparatus.
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure planned maintenance is carried out as per the maintenance schedule.
• Ensure that all the spares & tools are available and serviceable.
• Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
• Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
