Job Description

Position Summary:

Plans, directs, and controls all maintenance activities for Cumberland Mine’s CM and Outby areas. Supports the Maintenance Manager, Mine Manager, Assistant Mine Manager, and General Mine Foreman to maintain and improve equipment availability. Ensures safe, efficient, and profitable operations through legal compliance, timely project completion, quality workmanship, and cost control.

Proficient in communication, both written and oral. Skilled in planning, execution, and multitasking. Able to work collaboratively with the team to coordinate maintenance and mine operations.

Reads, understands, and utilizes maintenance drawings and schematics. Computer literate, familiar with Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and IFS System.

Major Responsibilities

1. Ensure safety and legal compliance in all maintenance activities.
2. Evaluate and develop workforce skills.
3. Coordinate maintenance with other managers.
4. Comply with UMWA contract requirements.
5. Maintain safe operation and condition of equipment.
6. Monitor maintenance overtime distribution.
7. Manage all maintenance activities within assigned area.
8. Collaborate with electrical engineers on electrical systems and issues.
9. Work to reduce mean time to repair.
10. Control overtime through proactive maintenance planning.
11. Plan daily maintenance tasks with the maintenance planner.
12. Manage maintenance costs monthly and daily.
13. Ensure work meets mine standards.

Qualifications

Technical Skills and Requirements

• Strong communication, management, motivation, and training skills.
• Knowledge of Federal and State Laws, UMWA Contract, and Company Policies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering maps, drawings, and plans.
• Bachelor’s or technical degree in maintenance or mining preferred.
• PA State Assistant Mine Foreman or Mine Foreman Certification preferred.
• PA State Electrical certification or the ability to obtain it within one year preferred.
