Job summary

Lecom Utility Contractors is seeking an Underground Locator/Operator to join our Michigan team. You will lead the bore crew, locate drill paths, read blueprints, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance on each site.

The role requires 2+ years of locating experience, a clean driving record, and CDL qualifications. You will operate tracking systems, perform equipment maintenance, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience locating drill string and leading crews
  • Clean insurable driving record
  • Class A CDL preferred; chauffeur’s license or CDL permit required before starting; must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Team oriented with leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of horizontal directional drills
  • Safety conscious and reliable
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires
  • Read and interpret blueprints and permits
  • Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each jobsite
  • Locate the bore path for the drilling equipment
  • Perform daily maintenance on all jobsite equipment and vehicles
  • Ensure proper bore rig setup and fluid mixing
  • Attach product to be pulled in
  • Operate DCI tracking systems
  • Locate and pothole necessary utility lines
  • Demonstrate good judgment in the field
  • Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies

We are looking for an Underground Locator\/Operator to join our growing team. This individual will be required to adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work.<\/p>

Responsibilities<\/h3>
  • Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires<\/li>
  • Read and interpret blueprints and permits<\/li>
  • Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each jobsite<\/li>
  • Locate the bore path for the Drilling equipment<\/li>

  • Able to properly attach product to be pulled in<\/li>
  • Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems<\/li>

  • Demonstrate good judgment in the field<\/li>
  • Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies<\/li><\/ul>
    Qualifications<\/h3>
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience locating drill string and running crew<\/li>
    • Clean Insurable driving record<\/li>
    • Class A CDL preferred / chauffer’s license or CDL permit required before starting. Must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire.<\/li>
    • Must be willing to work overtime<\/li>
    • Must be team oriented and display leadership skills<\/li>
    • Exceptional knowledge of horizontal directional drills<\/li>
    • Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety.<\/li>
    • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.<\/li><\/ul>
