Xcel Energy is seeking Locator candidates to locate underground gas and electric facilities using maps and prints to determine precise locations. The role involves using electronic equipment to mark locations and ensure the safety of excavators and the public.

Position may sit in St. Paul, MN, Newport, MN, or White Bear, MN; starting hourly pay is $27.62 with potential to reach $38.32, reflecting responsibilities and experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Must possess valid driver’s license.
• Experience reading Gas and Electric maps or prints.
• Understanding of Gas and Electric distribution practices.
• Available for 24hr call out duties.
• Experience in damage prevention practices.
• Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Subject to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Will drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground facilities including Gas and Electric using maps, construction prints and as-built drawings to determine approximate location.
• Use electronic equipment to determine physical location and protect facilities from damage and ensure excavator/public safety.
