Job summary

TAK Broadband in Little Canada, MN is seeking an Underground Laborer to support drill teams on fiber construction projects. You will work around live utilities, assist operators, and learn depths and placements while maintaining safety.

This full-time role offers benefits and weekly pay, with compensation of $20–$25 per hour DOE. Applicants must be able to lift up to 70 lbs, travel as needed, and work outside in all weather conditions year-round.

Qualifications

• Underground telecommunications construction or installation experience preferred; entry level considered.
• Ability to travel daily, out of state as needed, with company accommodations and per diems.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in outdoor environments year-round.
• Pre-employment checks including MVR, background and drug screen as required.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an Underground Laborer to join our team in Little Canada, MN. In this role you will assist our underground drill teams to complete assigned projects working around both standard and high-risk areas with live utilities.

The Role

• Assist drill operators and locators with equipment to complete assigned projects
• Will work in and around both standard and high-risk areas with live utilities
• Will learn about utility depths and placements
• Ensure vehicles, equipment and tools are properly maintained, in good repair and secured in a safe manner
• Review field designs and work with drill team to communicate discrepancies to supervisor for change orders
• Properly document all work completed to include pothole and bore logs
• Will learn and assist with conduit splicing, vault/pedestal placement and fiber/coax placement as needed
• Complete general restoration and cleanup
• Complete all projects with safety as the #1 priority, ensuring compliance with internal safety standards and all governmental orders
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Underground telecommunications construction or installation experience (entry level will not need experience but also seeking those with experience and CDL)
• Ability to travel daily, out of state as needed, with company provided accommodations and per diems
• Ability to work outside of business hours when needed, overtime, holidays, evenings, weekends etc., in all seasons
• Excellent customer service, time management, problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsHigh level of energy, motivation and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task, shifting from one task to another without interruption
• Ability to work with a noise level from moderate to loud
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70lbs as needed
• Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces or elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing in all weather conditions year round
• Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains, managing equipment, safety equipment and tools
• Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
• Class A CDL ideal but not required for all positions
• Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
